Reed Switches 5-120 DC 5 volt or 24 volt power supply?

I have 4 Reed switches Canfield reed switches 5-120 AC/DC model series 8000 type 2 NPN or PNP. My question I have is, My M23 board has 5 volts power to the board already on it but I have in the past wired up my limit switches to my 24 volt power supply and it works GREAT. Is it necessary to wire these reed switches to the 24 volt power supply or just use the 5 volt from the M23 board? The reed switches are for my ATC tool carousel air cylinder and for my power drawbar. The piston has a magnetic ring around it to make the connection when the piston goes under the reed switch, then trips an LED to let the user know what position the cylinder rod is in. This is needed for my M6START macro. The reason for the 24volt to the limit switches is to keep them from receiving a false signal from electrical interference.

Here is the Website of the reed switch.

    Any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

According to the data sheet they will operate from 5v up.
24v is better as you say for interference suppression.
It looks like they have a 5v buffer input so without other means you may be stuck as 5v.
