AND THIS is why i didnt want to upgrade to PP.......

so recently upgraded to spruntcam9 all post and everything seemed to be running just fine.

some days ago i upgraded from mach3 to PP, and i run my very first program and noticed my Z feed seemed pretty aggresive and i looked at the controller and noticed a 15 ipm feed on a 1/2" 4 flute carbide cutter, so i thought maybe i just fat fingered a number and sprutcam9 is saying 5 ipm which i what i normally use, i tried slowing it down with my feed % override and apparently all that does is slow down my X and Y feed NOT my Z feed.

i have check the program a dozen times, everything is how i would normally do things.

any possible way i am missing somthing?

here is my code incase someone can point any issues out. now in the code i keep seeing some F50 after my Z, is it trying to feed my Z at 50????????? i oppologize, im not a big gcode reader, until now i havent needed to, and after several years of successfully running my tormach pcnc1100 on sprutcam8 i seem to be having some very noob issues.

thanks guys, any help is very much appreciated.

oh, and then to add insult to injury i tried to repeat the program and apparently hit my limit switch which i somehow got passed my soft limits and had to undo the block that triggers my limit switch because it wouldnt let me get out of e-stop mode.

Re: AND THIS is why i didnt want to upgrade to PP.......

ok, so maybe i jumped the gun a bit blaming PP and seems like PP is just doing what its told to do.

when using the sprutcam9 post i get the results above. there seems to be some association between "cut feed" and "smart cut feed", and whatever my feed is set to is overriding my plunge feed.

again, i am no expert gcode reader but with SC9 post it seems to want to run my plunge feed the same as my work feed, and generate a feed per plunge, using the SC8 post its seems to set the Z plunge feed once because each plunge does NOT show an idividual feed speed. am i reading this correctly????

using sprutcam8 post i get the results below

Re: AND THIS is why i didnt want to upgrade to PP.......

PathPilot hasnt made an unprogramed move yet, which I couldnt say for Mach 3, it does have a few quirks but I think those will be worked out over time.

It is more critical of bad code, or code it doesnt recognize than Mach 3 though and will throw warning messages at times. I have never had it not run the code generated in Sprutcam 7 though.

Reviewing your code form the 2 different posts, it looks like the newest sprutcam post has even more problems then I have run into. I noticed a few options and settings that worked perfect in past generate no code at all or incorrect code now. The example above is imho another tool breaker and you might let tormach know. There are users around here like turbostep that could better answer what is going on here with the post. In the past I had always figured he wrote most of it. Anyway PP is only executing code the post generates and review of sprutcam and the code generated by the post is your answer.

The MAX VEL slider will limit the Z feed speed. Note that it is a % of maximum axis speed, not a % of commanded feedrate. ie 5% would be 5% of the Z's max feed of 90IPM, not commanded feed of 50IPM. I use it all the time when I first run a part and it is doing it's first Z move to the surface.

I also had to adjust my limit switches because I was hitting the limit switches instead of the soft limits. There is a setting you can adjust now to increase X and Y travels in PP so you don't need to adjust the switches. Check the PP docs on how to do it.

To change the soft limits, type ADMIN SET_X_LIMIT xx.xxx or ADMIN SET_Y_LIMIT xx.xxx in the MDI line. e.g. ADMIN SET_X_LIMIT 10.375 will change the x soft limit to 10.375". Typing ADMIN will list the available Admin commands in the status tab.

thanks guys, just some frustration on my part since I was to a point where I was pretty efficient with mach3 and sprutcam8 not i'm just stumbling my way thru it.

next time I go into my shop ill try running the program via the sprutcam 8 post and see how she acts.

    thanks again

Do you use any kind of code verification, or backplotter? I find ncplot invaluable for troubleshooting programs. Posts, however, are another story.
