We have a Hurco VMX 42 in our shop and we are pretty limited to what we can use it for because there is a .005" crown in the middle of the table,
We have been trying to fix this so we can use it as a finishing mill so our Hurco Rep suggested replacing the trucks and rails, which were replaced yesterday, with little to no change in the table flatness.
Our machine repair guy assured us that Hurco puts a crown in the table so it will sit flat with a heavier part on it. This seems counter intuitive to me because there's no specification as to what weight flattens out the table and if small parts are being machined they would have a bow in them as well.
Has anyone experienced this before? what other options do we have to fixing this bow?

I have the same issue with our 42, but mine is only .001 difference. I was told by the Hurco guy the same thing. I guess its built in???

I just got off the phone with Hurco, It sounds like there is tolerance for a bow within .001. Must have been the machine repair guy that talked our previous foreman into the $6k "Fix". it sounds like Hurco gave us two options,
1. They come in and bend the table straight using hydraulic jacks.
or
2. We can face mill the table ourselves.

.001 usually doesn't kill us. I think we will just live with it for now. Thanks for the response, I will keep in in mind in the future.
