    2014 Shopmaster home switch install

Got my home/limit switches installed. For now did single switch install and not separate home and limit switches. I did the home ones and then set soft limits. The y axis dro limits some of the travel there could be another 1/2" or more of travel added without the dro, in the pic you can see where I installed the switches and used JTs doc on how to setup in Mach3. Not perfect but very functional.

What type of switches did you use and what is the repeatability of the switches? Do they work well enough to get to +- 0.0005 or better?

Re: 2014 Shopmaster home switch install

I just installed one a Temco switch from ebay and it get great results that don't vary more than 0.0002" on my Patriot's DRO and that's when homing at 37.5"/min! There will be more variation from thermal expansion than that. Mounting it where I did allows full Y travel. I use a soft limit for the other extreme. Now when using the lathe with the correct homing offset I can turn a correct diameter without any test cuts probably well within +-0.0015. I have my QCTP base butted up against a shoulder that stays mounted to the table. I have 2 more switches I haven't mounted yet. I'm not sure how much use the one on the X would be, Z is kind of useful.
