    PATHPILOT MACHINING A USEFUL TOOL

Hi folks. A couple of Videos of Pathpilot and machining up a useful tool to save your draw bar..... and speed up tool changes.

Although I have struck a couple of problems with Pathpilot so far, I am sure they will be sorted soon. In the mean time I am working around them, and really enjoying the new software overall.

    Enjoyed your videos Keen!

I have reground cutter corners myself to get more life out of a tool, beats throwing them away.

I havent had Path pilot make a miscue yet!! I can go eat dinner with it running, nice to be worry free while its cutting unattended. I dont have the metric problem as I dont use it.

There are a few quirks but so far, none that affect the actual machining.
This is one of the best improvements by Tornmach in my opinion.

    Great videos, thanks Keen!

Thankfully with the power drawbar I don't need to make a spanner like this! =)

Thanks. Yes, I am always thinking about power draw bars and Toolchangers. But so far I am mainly doing low volume toolmaking and prototypes, and so runs are short, and I am usually in the area, so they are hard to justify. Also some reports of the Tormach ATC are not so confidence inspiring. I can do without the stress of crashes on valuable low volume work.

I dont have the tool changer either, but I do have the power drawbar, and it is really nice!! I changed tools by hand for over a year before I got around to installing it, man what a difference!
I dont run many parts, more of a hobby situation, but some of my parts have 10 or more tool changes in them, then the PDB really shines.........
