Help with wiring PDMX-107 to Fuji AF-300E$ spindle drive.

Hello, Desperately need help wiring my spindle drive. PDMX-107 to Fuji AF-300E$.

The machine is a very heavy duty industrial router that I have been retrofitting with Mach3 controls.

    My setup is..

    • PC with Mach3
    • Ethernet Smooth Stepper
    • PMDX-126 breakout board
    • PMDX-107 Spindle control daughter board.
    • 10hp Colombo Spindle.
    • Fuji/GE AF-300E$ drive. (IDK if VFD,PWM,VSD ?????)
    • Rail mount spindle monitor. (IDK, see picture, may control the analog load meter on machine???)

Although my spindle is capable of 25k rpm I would like to use this machine in lower RPM.
Will be using it for machining plastics. Not routing wood. Would like to also be capable of
    very low RPM and reversing.
(ability to do rigid tapping would be wonderful)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

virtually you can reduce the frequency so rpm will be ok.. but not sure you have remain power for real work..
probably you need a separated spindle for the tapping..

I don't think it possible that a high speed spindle, that designed 18K rpm will works on 500-1000 rpm
when you reduce frequency, the power also reducing..

    GD230Z3/15BT50

look for this motor, it has a bt50 taper, 15 kw and runs on 3000 rpm.. this probably sufficient you..
with this you can cut 2 in solid wood in one pass or even thicker

In my experience inverter drives have plenty of power at low rpms.

when I say low rpm, I thinking on 1000 and lower..

thinking on how these high rpm spindles are working, the reversing might cause difficulties..

also what he try to making, rigid tapping not available with these spindles.. for that, need a servo with encoder..

but ... good luck with experimenting.. we might see some new things..

Ok, but aside from my wishes, does anyone have any input on how to wire the spindle controller to the breakout board ?

if you were using the original bob , then use same terminals..

if you have new bob, then use the diagram came with the board..

beside this, a couple of thing..

sure you have proper cable between vfd and spindle,

rf filter might need different if you have larger spindle

since its a new set of spindle-vfd, you need to check if vfd settings match to spindle..

in my private opinion, you need to call simply an electrician..

Let me add that I only need help wiring to communicate the speed and direction.
This is for a retrofit from an old controller. All wiring from motor to controller, controller to braking resistor, controller to thermistor and controller to power are STILL WIRED.
I have no reference wiring as it war removed with the controller.

    I just got a 2.2 kw spindle..
I replacing the 1.5 kw spindle..
I have to replace the original vfd , and even all wire is there right now, still I have to look over..

I can give you the diagram how I hook mine up.. you use it for your own risk.. and don't complain if you burn your stuff..

you cant expect anyone take chance to telling you, specifically wire by wire ..
next day you might come back that your motor burnt, or your vfd burnt out..

if you know at least the basics, then you can figure, if you cant figure, then you can misinterpret what folks try to saying you..

again, if you don't feel safe, then call an electrician..
as you saying its """only"" a few wire..

Ok, lets see how yours is wired.
How did you set up your pulley in mach3?

    I using ncstudio

what you calling ""pulleys"" they are 3 different speeds.. but beside this you can set any rpm in the range your spindle designed

so in mach, probably you also have option to simply using low-mid-and high speed

and this is by the vfd manufacturers.. this will be common in any vfd..

    later I make pictures
and show MY wiring, what might don't apply you..

tough machine control not so different only things are named differently..

also makes difference if you were using mach3 in soft mode or you have hardware in your computer for..

nc studio has an own pci card..

you also need to seek help at mach3 forum.. this is a spindle card you have..

for mach3 things are separated, and in ncstudio they are in one compact card.. that is the pci card in the computer..

    heres one link for you..

however you need to make your own home work , because if you don't see trough this, then better you call an electrician..
