got a new problem
fanuc tape drill model t-----FANUC OM C CONTROL 1990

WORKING FINE YESTERDAY----TODAY STARTED MACHINE EVERY THING NORMAL
HONED XYZ TO 0
ENTERED NEW PROGRAM IN MEMORY---
SET G54 WORK OFFSET
MOVED TOOL DOWN TO THE PART FOR TOOL LENGTH OFFSET----------
EVERY THING NORMAL
THEN THE OPERATOR PANEL AND MONITOR WENT TO DOWN--- LIKE NO POWER TO THEN
THE VENT FAN ON Z SERVO MOTOR AND IN THE CONTROL CABINETS STILL ON
LED ON CONTROL BOARDS STILL ON.
SHUT OFF MAIN BREAKER CHECKED ALL FUSES ON BOARDS ( THEY ARE OK )
LOOKED FOR BURNT OR ANY DAMAGE TO BOARDS ---------NOTHING
QUESTION IS WHAT PROBLEM COULD I BE LOOKING AT
WHERE WOULD THE CONTROL FOR THE OPERATOR PANEL AND MONITOR START

if the panel is off it points to one of the power supplies being dead. the panel uses 24V so look for a small-ish power supply with a 24V output. check it with a DMM. Input will be 115VAC, output 24V DC. Get it repaired or replace it with a new one.

hi guys
i check for voltage in the control cabinet
with only the main switch on--- i found 24 volts coming from the black unit on the upper right side
of the cabinet looks like it might be 24 volt power supply it has a green led that is lit

when i turne on the cnc power that 24 volts when away
seems like the 24 volt power supply is working but something is telling it to turn off ---also
with the cnc power on--- none of the relays are active these are located at the top of the pic (maybe no 24 volts also)??
could it be a problem with i/o board
here is a pic of the control cabinet ------
the two boards at the bottom also have a green led they are lit
any suggestions will help

the relays are also 24V. since you have 24V your power supply is probably ok. you have a problem with something related to that power supply, meaning something that runs on 24V is shorted which then activates the power supply protection and it shuts down to save itself. to narrow it down disconnect all of the connections that have 24V on them one by one until it works. or pull several at once and then plug them in one by one until it powers off.

for the manual, you need the maintenance manual which should have a wiring diagram showing what is connected to the 24V power supply. no manual online. you can try ebay or companies selling manuals.

hi all
looking at the pic of the control cabinet--- bottom right board
according to the fanuc number this is a single servo drive that plugs into the i/o card on the mother board
i found a 51k ome 5 watt resistor with one leg broken on it
thinking this might be the problem why the 24 volt supply goes down?
can i unplug the servo drive board and turn on the machine?
or is that something i should not try?

you can try. you'll get an alarm if it is not connected but the other things should work if that is the issue.
