    TTS TOOL HOLDERS

I have often wished Tormach would offer TTS Set Screw Holders in 1/8 and 3/16 sizes.

I have 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 inch holders, but no 1/8 or 3/16 and I use a lot of cutters in those sizes. The smallest end mill I have used so far was a .010 3 flute that I used to engrave the plate that went on my mother in laws box when we had her cremated.

Yep, I know what you mean. I ended up making my own in 1/8" and 3/16". While I was at it, I also make more 1/4" and 3/8". Run-out was kept to a minimum by drilling the hole undersize on the lathe, then mounting the semi finished TTS holder in the mill and with a small carbide boring tool held vertical, the hole was machined out to within .005". Then the holder went back into the lathe for a final ream to size.

I think this sounds like a good idea. For small cutters getting in close to work is easier done with set screw holders since the nut isn't in the way. Tormach, I'll take a few of each size when they are available.

I would buy a handful of 1/8" holders.

    What tolerance on the reamer/hole?

I made them several years ago. I don't recall which reamer I ended up using.
I know that they are a very secure fit and easily pull a vacuum when you pull out the cutter with your thumb sealing the spindle end.
