    What's bobcad's return policy?

I own bobcad 21, bought last year, not even opened yet. I got a sales call for a good price on bobcad 22 and bought that last week. Just arrived today. I should have done my research. Seems there's lots of problems with stability issues here. I think I'm just going to spring for something that has a better rep., even at a price. Just wondering if Bobcad would take a return on an unopened package?

    Why not ask them?

Within 5 seconds I was able to dig this up on a google search...

I saw that too. But reading through the forum, my impression was that it has to not work somehow and you have to go through tech support before they give a refund. In my situation, I simply changed my mind based on what I read in this forum. It's almost all negative!

    Return policy

There are thousands of people running Bobcad software sucessfully and they are very happy with the software. Most of them never need to or want to use these forums so you are not getting their input on the software. Many of the people complaining about the software are frustrated because of their inability to use it correctly. Give it a shot and bobcads tech support and the users on this and other forums will be a great help

Ya, if it ain't broke they won't take it back. I also had the same experience as you. I bought the whole thing including the video tudor stuff. Had to resort to EBay to rid myself of it. Good luck.

try it you will like it

Most of the problems that I had with BCC was my lack of ability. As I learned how to use it, I see that it does a great job. The learning curve is steep but if you stick with it you will figure it out.

Thanks for the response. What concerns me are the reports of frequent crashes. I'm pretty good with computer hardware/software. Most of the time when a software crashes, its due to bad coding, not bad hardware. If it was purely hardware, they should place a very strict hardware requirement list on their website. That said, since I already bought it, I'll try it out this weekend. If it crashes all the time, I'll have to resolve it with bobcad.

My issue with bobcad is that I purchased 1 year of support along with the software. I eventually moved on to more industrial software but bobcad would neither let me transfer the support along with the sale of the software OR give me a refund. So I have a year of support for a product I don't have anymore that I can't get ride of :/. I still get calls from their sales people trying to get me to buy their new software.

I think that when I got the cold call, I was under the impression that there was a 30 day trial period. Turned out that there's a 30 trial software. When the sales person calls you in the middle of the morning, that sounded a lot like a 30 day refund policy. I hope it all worked out. Wasn't a big purchase anyways. If I push things, American Express always gave me refunds if the merchants are unreasonable. Now the next time Bobcad call, which will be next month probably, I'll let them know about all the negative feedbacks on this forum.

i really enjoy Bobcad. yes some minor irritations did frustrate me at first but all were fixed easily with tech support. the only crashes i experienced were due to me not using the software correctly (user error). it took a couple of years to really be able to use the product as its intended. the price is hard to beat for what you get. i'd gladly get v21 from you. send me an IM. thanks

    Re: What's bobcad's return policy?

I guess I have no shot at getting my money back from the BobCAD thieves? The salesman (Kenny) said I had two seats when I purchased but when I went to do the second install it wouldnt go because the license was used. They didn't hesitate in getting the training event or support renewal emails out to me.

I sure hope bobcad is letting you know your being recorded, otherwise they could be in really big trouble.

I didnt look at the age before I posted. They didnt tell me it was recorded nor did I get that beep that you usually get when you are but I didnt lie. I wouldnt recomend BobCAD to anyone but if I do get refunded, I have to find a good CAD/CAM package, any suggestions? Im a wood worker on a 2'x4' bed CNC running MACH3.

Did they rip you or are you having a hard time figuring out how to use it ? Kenny or Kevin.Kevin has always done me fair.
BoB is a very good software for the money. You will have a heck of a time finding one as good for the money,IMO

as far as recording, that is just what I heard on these Forums,so take it FWIW.But it has been said many of times.
I have never heard that directly from BoB....Just to keep things straight

    Re: What's bobcad's return policy?

I know my memory can't be that faulty. We've bought 6 versions of the software and at the point that the sale is going through you are switched over to a "specialist" who does the deed and informs you that the call is recorded, goes over everything included in the purchase, and the agreed-to price.

A call to sales is all it would take to verify that you were told that the call was recorded, you can hear it for yourself. I had to correct a sales order once and they didn't bother pulling up the recording, they took a look at my history and determined that I was likely telling the truth and they made me whole.

What problem are you having with the software Rustycorr? Every day I have 8 VMCs running, all programmed with BobCAD. Surely BobCAD is capable of programming your woodworking machine if you take the time to learn it. I agree some software may be better suited for what you are trying to accomplish but you didn't really say what the problem was or what exactly you are trying to do with it.

EDIT: I just re-read (apologies). If this is just an issue with a license you can get sorted in no time flat by calling sales and going over your sales call. Report back your results.

    Re: What's bobcad's return policy?

I explained to Kenny (Sales) that I was going to do the CAD work in my office and the CNC router would be in the garage. I told him I live in NJ where winter is cold and summer is hot so I wouldnt be laying out projects from the computer on the CNC machine. He said no problem, I could load it on two computers which in reality, I found out that I cant. I called Customer Service and they told me it was $500 for the extra seat. I also explained that the 45 free support plan wouldn't work because I wasn't receiving the machine for 4-6 weeks from the software purchase so I could get familiar with the interface and how to navigate the programming. Essentially, I paid $1225 for the ability to spend $500 more for that and $200,400 or 600 on support. I went into this with an open mind and let them sway me away from V-Carve which I now feel would have been a better choice. When I told Jennifer that I wanted to return/refund she said no, I said I would dispute this on my credit card and she said they fight those ALL THE TIME. Sounds like I am far from the only one unhappy with the product.

On a different note, since I appear to be stuck with this, is there a way to move an item (e.g. a rectangle) via drag and drop?

Problem is the sales rep told me I could load it on two machines but I cant. Now they told me I had to buy a second license for $500.
