New to CNC - OpenBuilds OX Build. Need help with electronics and settings

    First post here,

I build this CNC router using OpenBuilds system. I have assembled everything and it jogs and operates just fine.

I need help with the settings and the calibration.

    Here are my components:

    Nema 23 for X and Y

Nema 17 for Z (connected to an 8mm acme screw)

I am using GT3 Timing belt

Here are my current settings. I calculated these on this calculator.

    Attachment 267966

The settings off the calculator were not matching up with the GRBL Controller readout. I modified them to match. Keep in mind I am guessing here... first timer.

With these settings I will zero out the machine. Enter G01 X1 Y1 Z1 and I will get X1 Y1 Z1 on the read out.

    Questions/Concerns/Problems/Etc/Etc

When I designed a simple square and circle using Sketchup and SketchUCam it seems it doubled the size of the drawing. Example my circle was an inch and it cut it two inches. and the circle wasn't very round. I am not sure if that comes from sketchup or what.

Expanding on the issues above... When I type in the command G01 X5 it moves 5/16" of an inch. That is 7.9375 mm. It says 5mm on the program.

Again I am new at this and need some serious help!!!!!

EDIT: I changed the X and Y settings to 26.67. It seems to get the Gcode to the actual measurement correct but not the machine readout.

    Hello,

first of all, the a scaling of 2 along x & y just means you need to half your $100 and $101 values. Your $102 values were very very wrong for me. They were wrong by a factor of 20.
But of course this depends on your microstepping configured.

    My settings look like this:

    $0=10
    $1=20
    $2=0
    $3=0
    $4=0
    $5=0
    $6=0
    $10=3
    $11=0.02
    $12=0.02
    $13=0
    $20=0
    $21=1
    $22=1
    $23=0
    $24=200
    $25=500
    $26=250
    $27=1.000
    $100=26.05
    $101=26.05
    $102=25.25
    $110=7500
    $111=7500
    $112=7500
    $120=1500.000
    $121=1500.000
    $122=1500.000
    $130=200.000
    $131=200.000
    $132=200.000

Again, you got to scale the $100-$102 value range according to your microstepping.

    Maybe it helps someone.

    Cheers
