I have been doing a lot of research. I am in between laser engraver (yes a chinese one on eBay 40w CO2) or a CNC 3020 on eBay.
All I am looking for is to be able to engrave cutting boards, I received one for our anniversary and it looks like it has a burnt finish but it is not just on the surface, its actually engraved into the wood and I would like to engrave anodized dog tags. I know lasers are more create image and print and the cnc may have more work to them.
What would you recommend? I know the engraving space is very limited the cutting board we have is 10x18 inches but the engraving space is only 8x10... I saw someone that cut out the metal size of the laser engraver so fit larger object in. Would one of these "cheap" Chinese laser engravers do what I need on wood with multiple passes? Not looking for a machine that cuts anything. Just light etching.
