    What does a stepper motor stall feel/sound like?

    Just curious. Haven't been around cncs too long (obviously). Have a BP Boss. Just wondering when calibrating software and they mention motors stalling what does that actually mean? What does it do exactly and is it bad? I'm assuming its usually related to too fast accels but what do I know (again not much obviously).

    It kinda sounds like shifting a manual transmission without the clutch, and it won't quite go into gear.
    What happens is the motors just stop moving, and emit a loud grinding noise. It doesn't hurt the machine at all. It happens when the motors don't have enough power to do what they are commanded to do.
