Bridgeport V2E3 retrofit with DMM-Tech kit

A friend of mine bought this old Bridgeport thinking it was in running condition long story short some of the electronics have been sabotaged. My friend was basically out of luck until I found this forum a few months ago and it inspired me to do a retrofit. Let me clarify I have never no knowledge of CNC mills never even touched one until my friend made the mistake of not buying a non-working one (which he overpaid). So after countless hours of reading through some other retrofits I decided I would start on mine today. I decided to forgo trying to salvage the servos and any of the electronics and simplify my life by getting a kit from DMM-TECH which were very helpful and email back very timely. I did consider trying buying alot of pieces on my own and putting them together but my time is a important factor.

First thing is first the mechanics of the machine seem to be in good condition I believe the previous owner used it mostly for milling PCB boards apparently he retrofitted hybrids with larger batteries (plugin hybrids all the rage over here in the San Francisco bay area).

I've posted some pics would love to here what you all think and any advise would be appreciated.

The machine does look in good shape,The Dmm system will get you running,& making parts, it is very easy system to install, are you looking at the Dyna2 or Dyna3 Drives

DYN2-H drives I thought about getting the Dyn3 but after talking to Tianyu Li at DMMtech for my build the DYN2's should work fine. Although the DYN3's offer more power, flexibility and maybe even the ability to switch to LinuxCNC. I saw a few builds using the DYN2's, maybe when i'm more knowledgeable i'll kick myself for not going with the DYN3's. For now money and time are the deciding factors and I have to remember K.I.S.S (Keep it simple stupid).

P.S thanks for the reply I've seen other builds that you have contributed to with your knowledge and found them quite helpful.

Here are some pics of the drives and motors DMM tech sent me its surprising how small everything is but it was all packed very well. I also stripped the old electronics out of the back and removed the steel backing plate which I plan to mount my stuff to.

Are you doing 3 axes or 4 axes,I'm not sure if you have seen the pre-wired kits, for the Dmm low voltage Drives, this is the best way to do it, & will save you a lot of time, they are available in 3 & 4 axes

I have 3 axis. I probably would have gotten a kit like that (dependent on cost) but my friend has already came up with a way to mount the drives and power supplies. He already had some aluminum cut and bent.

P.S do you think I should have put my build on the DMM Tech threads instead?

Re: Bridgeport V2E3 retrofit with DMM-Tech kit

    Hello
I also have a v2e3, I am using the be25a20ac drives, does anyone know the inductance of the powertron servos?
