    Inspecting ballscrews - Boss 5

Just getting my retrofit finished to linuxcnc. I'm getting some weird nose coming from the different axis. Kind of like a reverberation that is repetitive while the screws are turning. Happens every 2-3 seconds I guess on the x and y axis. Wondering if there is an easy way to take it apart and check the ballscrews and maybe clean them too. Machine is in good shape (I think) but I want to do any other this sooner rather than later if needed. Not sure if it was ever crashed. If it did what would have most likely gotten damaged?

Also had an occurrence of where it seemed like the x axis locked up one time. The motor really whined and it wouldn't move. Its been fine ever since. I did readjust the gibs a little after but don't know if that had anything to do with it getting better. I'm new to all this stuff and the axis don't seem silky smooth like a manual machine when they turn. They are still smooth I'm just not sure what is normal. Considering its age I figured if its doable it might not hurt taking a look at. .

Some manuals can be found here Bridgeport

You would also be wise to check the lub nozzles to make sure they are working and not plugged. This will require the removal of the table.
