    U and V axis commands in Gcode.

    Hi,
    I am trying to get set up for 8 axis, using the command;
    DefineCoordSystem8(0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7);

    All axis respond in the step response screen and axis x,y,z,a,b,c respond to gcode, but when I try and move channels 6 and 7 with a command such as:
    G1 U20 V20

    I get "G code error Bad character used" and the commands do not go green as they would for other axis. There is also no spot in setup to define axis parameters.

    How do I set up channels 6 and 7 for gcode?

    Cheers
    Alan

    Hi Alan,

    Although KFLOP supports 8 axes and 8 axes of interpolated motion, KMotionCNC, Mach3, and our Motion Libraries only support 6 Axes of coordinated motion.

    Do you need 8 axes of simultaneous coordinated motion? It is possible to dynamically re-map any of the 8 KFLOP axes to the 6 GCode Axis. Also the remaining two KFLOP axes can be Slaved to other axes. It is also possible to command the remaining axes to move independently with M Codes and such.

    Re: U and V axis commands in Gcode.

    Hi Tom,

    The application is for welding pipe onto another pipe. There are 2 torches with shared X and Z axis, plus individual Y and 2 rotary per torch.
    Both torches will be performing the same weld(half a circle each), the issue is that initial testing suggested that the best way to weld them is to have the torches slightly staggered in their welds since they start at the same spot (too much heat in one spot otherwise)

    We were hoping for 8 axis of simultaneous coordinated motion, but we can probably get by with a combination of those workarounds thanks.

    Cheers
    Alan
