    Water table question

    Hello everyone

First off let me say this forum is great. I've been reading some of the builds on here
an there are some vary talented builders. I look forward to seeing the updates like JP's build and reading dnelso build just to name a few.

I'm in the process of building my first 5 x 10 table using Precision Plasma HDG gantry. And I will be asking question here and there from you guys. So let me apologize in advance for all the questions.

So on with my first question for you guys.

Do I need to put a pitch in the pan for the water to drains? All the ones I've seen here look like they are flat with no pitch in them to drain.

I plan on doing something like JP's with the tank under the table draining in the center with two drains.

    Thanks for any help

    JD

    Re: Water table question

I didn't bother putting pitch in, Dnelso's builds I think he did have pitch in and some others do. My thought was it was more work, and as soon as the table gets a pile of slag in it, it will act like a dam anyway. When I tested my bed for leaks, when I drained it, pretty much all of it did drain out except for maybe 1 qt, which will evap pretty quick as its spread out over a big area.

    Thanks JP.
When I was laying the frame of the table out I didn't plan on a pitch for the same reasons. But then I had a buddy asking why not as I was welding it together. And then I started second guessing myself. So figured I see what everyone else was doing.
So now we are moving on.
    Thanks again for the help.

    Re: Water table question

I looked at a commercial machine, and even though the water comes up thru several down tubes,
upon releasing the air, it all went to the end of the table, taking allot of the slag with it. (the tubes
were not flush at the bottom of the table, rather extended up a couple of inches above the burning area
    floor)

On that end were removable "sluice pans" , and then the water went back under the table,
    back into the pressurized section.
