Need Help. GE 1050HL Error code

I have a LeBlonde Tape Turn lathe with GE 1050 HL CNC control. Not a tape reader. The problem is when feed is stopped in the middle of a cut and I want to return to start of program and press clear button I get a #76 error code. Manual says #76 is "offset error". Cause "a tool offset move was interrupted by a clear or stop condition causing the control to lose track of the machine position." Recovery Procedure "zero the machine before continuing operation". In order to continue I have to turn control off, restart and zero machine. this machine does not home so it is a PITA to reset part zero.
I recently scrapped a similar Leblonde lathe with GE1050 HL control and saved the control. This machine was one year newer 1979 vs 1980. This machine did not do this. I could stop anywhere in program, clear and restart with no problem.
My question is. Is there a procedure to solve this problem? Or can I change a board from newer machine?
    Thanks

Re: Need Help. GE 1050HL Error code

Wow, there is still one of these running? We had one at work that died about 5 years ago, didn't even bother to try and fix it. Pretty sure those had a manual absolute switch that when left off would do that.
