I am looking to own my own Gweike laser after using the Gweike 1390 at a local maker space. I would like to cut up to 6mm acrylics and MDF in my garage (hot weather most of the time) and <$2000. I am looking at the Ebay K40 laser and a Gweike Storm 500 and would like some input from more experience fellow members.
- Do I need a dedicated 240V outlet?
- Is a Gweike Storm 500 a better machine than than the K40 for my purpose? Will I need multiple passes on these 35W-40W CO2 tubes?
- Being that it is in a garage, what is the recommended way to run the air/fume outside? Bore a hole through the garage wall?
- Is there a better option for my price range?
I am planning on cutting miniature buildings that I design for my own train/model man cave. Cutting acrylics are for making clear parts to fit into other 3d printed pieces for my custom miniature project. Thank you for your help.
