Hi,
I have been using KFlop with the calibration of the steps per inch being set in the KmotionCNC>Tool Setup>Trajectory Planner tab. now I am learning my way about it I have seen that it also seems possible to set this in KFKop itself through Kmotion>Config & Flash>InvDistPerCycle whhc is currently set to 1. am I correct in my understanding that these two allow setting of the same thing in two different places? and if so what are the pro's/con's of using one over the other?

Hi Rich,

InvDistPerCycle is only relevant to Output Modes that generate sinusoidal current cycles like like SnapAmp's "Microstep" mode (which is different than Step/Dir mode where the driver may be doing microsteps). Step/Dir Output mode can be scaled with the OutputGain Parameter. You didn't state what type of system you have.

But we recommend leaving KFLOP to operate in raw Steps and let any application perform scaling. Mainly because it makes diagnosing problems easier. When looking at number and plots I prefer to clearly see if the motion is 1 microstep, or 1 full step, or 1 motor pole, or 1 motor rev, etc... I suppose there are advantages and disadvantages of doing it both ways.
