Howdy all,
Is there anyway to identify a real rung fu RF45 mill? I got mine a few years back from a reputable machine dealer and was under the impression it was simply a re-badged RongFu RF45.
thanks

Depending on what year it was manufactured it may say made in Taiwan. However RongFu does contract much of their labor and parts with China so often times the same factory will make a genuine Rongfu part and it's clone. The difference tends to be in the fit and finish and casting thicknesses.
I found a tear down of a real rong fu and compared it to the IH clone and another clone. Here are some differences I spotted so far:
5 bolts on the column (one on the front)
Rack and pinion Z axis
Z axis tram does not have a hole in the center
Column has access panels on the back
I tore down my gear box and compared it against Graetech's box. Mine uses NSK bearings and they are all 11mm not a mix of 10 and 11. For the quill, mine uses Koyo bearings.
