I like it! The 126 that is.
I like it! The 126 that is.
A lazy man does it twice.
Just got the computer together! Some more wiring to do so no chips this weekend! Maybe next weekend!

Got the BOB mostly wired up to the Drive Rack and had Stepper Movement on the bench! Then switched gears and played with the Defective MN400 will diagnose and fix on my own. I may start an open source project if Microkinetics claims there are thousands out there may be worth doing something. From the initial scan it seems the Z- Limit Circuit is good so prob. a software issue in the controller I will figure it out just have to brush up on new software is been over 10 years since I dabbled this deep in electronics!
Jtag Boundary Scan Screen! For Debugging!

On a personal Note, I want to Thank Maurice Khano of Microkinetics for the lack of service and giving me the Motivation to get my old EE Tooling Out and start playing and dabbling in electronics again after over a decade!
There is a lot of new info/tech to learn.
Another hobby to waste a bunch time and money on! Reversing a poorly engineered and built CNC Controller Board was not in my immediate plans but why not dust off some old skills while learning new ones and the in's/out's of CNC Machining!
I will blog a bit on the Microkinetics MN400 diagnostics repair and share all the interoperability data i get as it may assist others in fixing their malfunctioning equipment that has no real public support.

I have the PMDX-126 and ESS on the way took long enough!

Imach3 P1A-S Ordered Today! Hoping to have Video of first chips next weekend after Thanksgiving!
Only thing that may cause a delay is getting the RJ45 Panel Mounts in Amazon is out and E-bay they ship from China us suppliers want way to much for same item!
It Has took long enough to get this thing going! Still have Not decided if I want to go with ba VFD or Servo on the Spindle! any Pro's Cons? of the two?

If I have to replace the motor on my lathe, I think I will just go with a Servo. It is great on my mill. The drawback on the mill is no high speed. Only an issue with aluminum and then only minor. I still get good cuts with it. High speed really isn't needed on a lathe. The low speed torque, speed control and rigid tapping make it first in my want list. A lathe can thread using a threading tool with a VFD, but it can't rigid tap small inside threads. Those would have to be done by hand. Not a deal killer by any means. I think it might be rarely used, but nice to have when you need it. You never know what product you might invent that needs a lot of that done.

Since i have spent more than I paid for the lathe in Just the Controller, ESS, and Pendent I think I may go with a Servo any recommendations on a setup for a 12X36 that will work good but not break the bank?

I haven't actually nailed a matched set of motor and drive down yet.
I am thinking that I may just go with what is on my Pulsar mill already. I already know how they work and how to set those up.
They are 1.2KW AC servo's. These have 3000 RPM but are geared up to 4500 with a timing belt on the mill. That would be plenty for a lathe. My little lathe can actually do more than 4000 RPM now, but I never spin it faster than 3200 RPM.
It is a small lathe with an X2 head and 4" chuck. Never meant for high speed.

The ESS and Pendent arrived today PMDX-126 was shipped late (today) so will not make it till Wednesday Afternoon/Friday afternoon! So i guess no chips this weekend!

Things coming together..
PMDX-126
DB9 For Inputs & Other.
Possible ESS Mounting Need to make a Plate for mounting!
Not sure if I can use port 2 & 3 in mach3 instead of 1 & 2 would be simpler cable routing.

Hi,
What software are you using for boundary scan JTAG debugging

Finally had time to get some work done ESS and PMDX-126 are up and running.
First Movements. Still need to fine tune the settings.

Long December, I may get time next week to work on this machine... need it up to turn some ball screws for my G0704!!

Hello, do you have your MN400 working?
I have the same, but i dont no where to begin withit.
