Hello,

we are starting to produce shoes for kids. Cutting the leather in hand is way too time-consuming. At first we looked for laser cutter, which as we leart leaves the dark edges. Then we found that it can be cut using CNC machine with drag knife - Drag Knife for CNC routerDonek Tools

What I would like to accomplish here is to learn what CNC machine would be the best suitable for us. I am real novice to CNC, dont know what brand is good what brand is bad. We do not want to buy anything directly from China as we need some support and of course warranty. It does not to be hi-tech, I think that the only requirements from our side is the cut area size, which should be at least 48x32 inch. We would be cutting simple 2D patterns. Could anyone give us some advise which machine to choose?

In a commercial environment a vibrating or oscillating drag knife system is not only more appropriate its also much more efficient.

I think you'd have a lot of difficulty holding the leather in place while trying to cut it with a dragknife.

Drag Knife
I have a problem using my CNC with the Aspire Program.
I have been watching all the tutorials and reading all the comments but my drag knife doesn't turn with the lines and get broken. I follow all the steps and the problem still be there.
How can I control the elevation of the drag knife in Z ,for change the lines, because in the Aspire program I couldn't find the Z's set up?
I will appriciated the help, and if somebody knows how fix it, please send me screen shoots, pictures or videos for how you set up the elevation of the drag knife in Z.
