    System Comp On Turning

I am just practicing with the V4 lathe.

I am struggling with the System Compensation when making a groove.

    There are 2 options

    1. Off
    2. On With Collision Detection

I have drafted up my toolholders and they can be seen in the simulation.

If you notice in the attached image it is not cutting all the way to the bottom on the groove with the comp on.

When the comp is off it does not compensate for the thickness of the cutter?

Really need some help on this as changing the settings for toolpath and tool does not seem to make any difference!

Pic 1 and 2 are with comp on. Pic 3 has the comp off.

There used to be a comp with collision detection off. This option seems to be gone.

    Re: System Comp On Turning

OK. So I did a bit more looking into this problem

    See the images attached:

    1. Parting tool holder assigned (toolpath is incorrect)
    2. No tool holder assigned (toolpath is correct)

Any ideas where the error is?

I am going to play around with the tool holder sketch as it must be causing the problem somehow

    Re: System Comp On Turning

    1) Don`t use the System Comp for grooving
    2) Can`t tell for sure but I think the parting tool should be drawn with the XY on a corner not in the middle
