    extrude curve has no caps

Sometimes when I go to "extrude curve" to make a solid out of a shape drawn with lines it will extrude the lines but not have caps covering them to make then into a solid. Other times it will extrude it into a solid just fine. I have "with caps" chosen. What am I missing? thanks, rj

It's not "closed". Use chain selection to find the openings.

Exact problem as described. Joined all lines. Chain select, drag select. Simple rectangle no problem. More complicated such as an L, ok. Add a 45 "wall" between two rectangles, no caps appear. It then seems possible to planar cap the bottom but not the top. One work-around is to place joining lines in the inside corners and then extrude each segment(chain select) and then boolean add to solid but very tedious.
