Need opions for my auction fail.

I go to auctions and get some of my tinkering components. Keep some and sell some to offset the costs. But I bought some boxed Thompson linear rod. Instead of One long rod. I got 15 size 24 (1 1/2 inch) supported linear rod each one 16 , sixteen , yes 1.5 ft long. What would I use these for? Yes I did get a bunch of step timing pullies and whole bunch of flanged linear rod bearings so that takes some of the sting out. But I still got these toe stumpers in my shop looking for an application. Need your input. Can they be reliably joined together?

Within certain limits, they can be joined. The base on which they are mounted becomes slightly more critical.

Attachment 248912 Here is a picture of said toe stumpers. Anybody got an idea of what these would be good for?

Two of those could make a really good Z-axis support.

Z axis would be a good place. They'd be great for a camera glide as well...

After you put the linear bearings on them you are only going to get what 10 to 12 inches of travel? If I didnt hate ebay so much I would try to sell them on there. I guess I will keep a set for a heavy duty z axis should I ever decide to build a machine that needs it. But I dont need 12 more of them. On the other hand they dont take up that much space so no harm no foul. Thanks everybody fot the ideas, keep them coming. I just thought that it might make a good platform for a heavy duty horizontal drill.
