My name is Costin and I'm from Romania

I have some questions regarding metal cutting .

I own a 170 watts CO2 CNC Laser machine and for some time something is troubleing me .
Looking over the youtube I can see that other friends who also have a 170 or 150 watts co2 laser can cut maximum 2 mm steel and in my case i bearly make a burning mark on it.
As I did some researches I found out and saw that their cutting head it's much different from mine .
My cutting head uses a focusing lens 20mm diam at a focal lengh of 63.5mm
and that machines wich can cut metal are using a bigger cutting head with cooling and using Oxigen .

My purpose is to cut maximum 1 mm thick using my machine .

I looked over youtube and found some videos in wich with the same power as mine can cut metal and can cut it very smooth

I also found a similar cutting head on alliexpres but i don;t know if it is the right one

Maybe you can give me an advice in what to buy and were to buy this kind of cutting head for solving my problem .

This is Lucy from G.WEIKE, we replied your emails ,please check,not all 150-170w laser power can cut metal, there is special design inside, including the laser head, lens ,mirror,and auto adjuster etc

As I could saw from the youtube videos it was already clear to me that 150-170 watts co2 lasers can cut metal , the question in my case is if it is possible for my laser machine to cut metal too .

Please explain what special design means to you .
Lens : diameter , material , focal lengh
mirrors : diameter , material other characteristics
Laser Head (dimensions , material , intakes , nozzle )

I must remaind you that my machine has 3 MO mirrors 25 mm diam .
and the lens used is 20 mm with focal lengh of 63.5 mm

It depends on the wavelength of your laser tube. If the wavelength is not correct you will never get it to cut metal. A vawelength of around 10.6um should be the correct wavelength.

on the tube specification it says that is 10.6um . Well how can I check if its ok ...The laser have been used for aproximately 50 hours.

If you want the 170w Co2 laser to cut metal, you just need a metal laser head, using the metal laser cutting head, you can cut the metal and non-metal smoonthy.

Ohhh, yeah. And you need cutting gas. For steel you need Oxygen at low pressure, something like 0.5-1.5bar, and for stainless steel and aluminum, you need Nitrogen, at high pressure Something like 6-19bar.

Hello In-WondeR,
CO2 laser cutter for cutting metal, it requires high power laser tube and Oxygen gas.

Usualy use Reci Laser tube Z6, 130w-160w, with Oxygen gas assistance, it can can 1.5-2.0mm stainless steel. Without Oxygen, it can cut 30mm acrylic.

Good day
if your purpose is to cut maximum 1 mm thick using your machine , your machine is no problem with Oxigen , but cutting edge have some burr, not very smooth,
if you need high quality production , you need cut with special laser cutting head .
