Help needed with first time set up (with pictures) 60W CO2 Laser

    Hello!
We are setting up our newly purchased laser from Automation Technology Inc and I have a few questions that I hope y'all might be able to help me with. The instruction manual is a little bit hard to read in places.

CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver With Auto Focus, 60W, 20? X 12? | Automation Technology Inc

NOTE: Not shown (8 foot copper covered ground pole and grounding wire connected to machine).

    QUESTIONS

    1) Why is the third wire spliced off on the exhaust fan? (see image 1 & 2)

    2) Is the foam in the laser compartment for shipping and needs to be removed, or does it stay in there? (see image 4)

    3) Do I need to get a water tank for the water pump to go into to pump water TO the chiller then TO the laser and back again. How many gallons should this water tank be? (see image "setup") Would a plastic box with lid with holes cut into the top work for this? Any additional tips?

4)Signal cable between chiller and laser was missing a small screw. repaired is as shown in image "signal cable chiller to laser1") is this good?

Check out my ****ing awesome diagram. Is this what we want? Is a 30 gallon plastic container with holes drilled in the top sufficient?

    THANK YOU!

I have the same laser the foam is just for shipping. I attached the ground wire to the motor housing. I don't have the chiller but your pic looks like it should work

kinda hard to tell from the little pics, but it looks like the same chiller we have on gweike, its self contained, you fill it with water and it circulate itself.

that looks like a low end diaphragm air pump for the air assist?,

Ah great. Thanks we've got the set up working.

So, a further question, I assumed the cover was sufficient for blocking radiation, however, should I be wearing Infrared Eye Protection Goggles also or is that unnecessary with a closed laser such as this? I'll be etching and cutting wood and acrylic.

G.Weike USB mode laser manual video - YouTube our machine setting up video.. Machines should be similar.

Only a small part of customers bye the glasses. If you have the laser working with the cover down, it should be safe.
