    Setting steps per inch question

Hi all. I'm a complete rookie who is building a g0704 upgrade. I have many confusions, but I will limit the questions to two.
First, as I set up the steps per inch in Mach 3 I have found that the y axis requires many more steps for accuracy. The z and x are around 8000 but the y is in excess of 10000. They are all very accurate but the discrepancy seems wrong. Is it wrong? And, if so, can some kind soul aim me in a direction.
Second, I want to run roadrunner when I am ready, but it seems that I won't have enough y travel to do so. The dro rises above 6 periodically and I only have about 5.75 inches that I can travel the y axis.
    Thanks in advance, folks

No, as you can see in my configuration:

Here are the current Mach3 settings:
    Kernel Speed: 60000Hz
    Motor Tuning
    X-Axis, Steps/Per: 1279.717499, Velocity: 1000, Acceleration: 60
    Y-Axis, Steps/Per: 1279.717499, Velocity: 1000, Acceleration: 60
    Z-Axis, Steps/Per: 5083.817944, Velocity: 385.56, Acceleration: 19.5
    A-Axis, Steps/Per: 1279.717499, Velocity: 1000, Acceleration: 60

    Max Travel
    X: 97.3322 (2472.23788 mm)
    Y: 48.3865 (1229.0171 mm)
    Z: 9.8048 (249.04192 mm)

You can use MACH3 to calculate the steps/per in the settings page, and you can get really accurate numbers too!

It's not what you take away, it's what you are left with that counts!

Thanks, one less concern. I did set it up using the process on the settings page and it is very accurate. Just weird numbers.
