    5 volts to 1.5 volts?

Ok found the DRO deal, now one thing I would like to change if possible. The scales and a display unit all take 1.5 v batteries. Is it possible to take a pc power supply(which I know has 5v and 12v) and reduce the voltage to 1.5v? If yes , how?

I would use a voltage regulator chip (LM117 or LM317). If you do not need adjustment, use 280 ohm for R2.

In the previous example, there will be less heat dissipated if you use a 5v power supply.

BTW, is it 1.5V "batteries" in PARALLEL or SERIES????.

2 in series give 3 volts and the above circuit will need to be reworked.

Simply leave in the variable resistor and dial in the voltage (1.5 or 3.0v) that you need.

Assuming this is powering calipers, where are you putting the LM317?
Suspect since they are designed to run on batts they have low noise immunity on the power rail , suggest a few uf paralle with a 0.1uf at the caliper end.
    maybe...

Its just the cheaper digital scales , I believe they use just one battery. I just hate batteries and would rather have it powered by a power supply.

Why not use a Duracell AA battery (or larger) - will last for YEARS !
