Re: jossa's G0619, going CNC one step at a time

the problem is that i am going for CNCFusion's kit.. and he uses nema 23 on X and Y axis .. and a NEMA 32 on the Z

    AND it is direct drive...

i am confused what to do now.. maby i have to stick to "just" plain digital steppers..?

yes digital stepper is a good choice. Better than standard stepper motor...

Re: jossa's G0619, going CNC one step at a time

the problem is that i need a stepper motor capable of around 7 NM on the NEMA 32 and around 3,5 NM on the NEMA 23 and i cant find that in the Leadshine closed loop easy servo lineup..
any other manufacturers of the same type of system? (closed loop)

if not, my backup plan is to revert to digital steppers

does anyone know what size steppers is required on the different axis?

i plan on using a CNCFusion deluxe kit
    http://www.cncfusion.com

    X and Y i plan on using 570 OZ-in / 4NM
    Z i don't know how much i need 920 OZ-in / 6,5NM maby?

anyone have any info on this i would appreciate it

Thanks gozos! it is helpfull, i have searched but could not find any relevant info..

also i made another work bench.. need to clean up my part of the cave and finish the top part of the table so the mill is enclosed.. anybody got any good ideas?
thinking of using plywood and epoxy coating
    Attachment 241288

    one more also!
I have now ordered a KFlop and a KMotion to control and run my steppers.. steppers soon to be ordered...
    Attachment 241294 + Attachment 241296 = Attachment 241298

    Dynomotion KFlop
    Dynomotion KStep
i have high expectations for it! and also Tom over at Dynomotion has helped me with finding out what would work best with the unit, a big thank you to him! =)

In this document from syil you can find this:
    "Stepper motors:
Our X and Y axis stepper motors are a NEMA 23. They have a hold-
ing torque of 260 oz/in. And consumes 3 amps per phase.
Our Z-axis stepper motor is a NEMA 34 They have a holding torque
of 460 ounces per inch. And consumes 3 amps per phase.
    "
And it seems it is direct coupling, no belt...

gozos you are a life saver!

i think i will order this 570 Oz motor for my Z
and for X and Y i will use this 370 Oz motor

if that was good enough for syil then it should work on my machine

if you buy cnc fusion kit you need nema 34 for the Z...

Re: jossa's G0619, going CNC one step at a time

yea i think this might actually work!

and the controller is capable of handling 5A per channel so i can go bipolar parallel and use 570 ozin/ 4Nm motors on all axis without problems!
only thing is i don't get the closed loop that a leadshine would give me..

    got some new toys!

first i have gotten a IP66 enclosure for my electronics, Schneider Electric 600X400X200
    Attachment 241698

and i have just received the Kflop and Kmotion..
(Kflop are going to be stacked on top of Kmotion)
    Attachment 241700

the place that i was going to get steppers from had a bug in the checkout so i could not place an order.. so that is on hold for now)

Re: jossa's G0619, going CNC one step at a time

Got both the Kflop (rev. 1.3) and the Kstep (rev 1.2) mounted together.
so far i love the hardware, the green terminals are detachable, making it much easier installing tthe cables, nice detail!
also i got a "free" USB cable included in the deal.. nice

    Attachment 241758
    Attachment 241760
    Attachment 241762
    Attachment 241764

so now i am reading trough the documentation on the hardware...
and to be honest it is a bit difficult to know where to start (they had included some printed documentation in the parcel tho)
and as far as i can see i need to download the latest software from here and after installing that, i have to check and see that my firmware is updated..

Re: jossa's G0619, going CNC one step at a time

ok.. i have not updated any firmware yet.. (to afraid :P it kept saying i could brick the unit.. soooo... no )

the good thing is that i found out i need to disable driver signature checking routine on my WIN 8.1 pc.. so after doing that and installing the usb driver for the board, it connected! (confirmation in console)

so now i am connected to the Kflop, and i have 5V light on both the units, not sure if that is good considering that it is powered from a usb output on a computer but i can mess around in the programs.. now i need to read more manual to find out what is next.. (i think i need to define the outputs for my steppers and such but i will try to read the manual and find out what is next)

the enclosure is taking shape now..
i have also started painting it but i forgot to take pictures of that.

    Attachment 242008

    Attachment 242010

now my biggest problem is what to do with the front, i need something that is easy to access, but water thigh enough to withstand the spray of coolant from the machine.

i have also gutted the head and the back cover with all the controllers and cables..
going to move the motor controller into the same cabinet as the controller and drivers are.
    Attachment 242012

when i get the machine up and running i am going to make a face plate for the front to tidy it up a bit.

i am also contemplating to incorporate a column brace into the design before epoxying up the table.
incorporating a plate underneath the machine and a couple of steel pillars on the side, parallel to the column for added stiffness

    just got my 3 steppers..
soon i have my power supply and then i can start testing the motors and begin building the control cabinet

well i got some work done, started painting the enclosure in a machine gray color.. i think it looks nice. =)

    Attachment 242714
    Attachment 242712
(i don't know why the picture is on its side, on my computer it is the right way around)

Using nothing but the best, biltema! :P cheap but good.
    Attachment 242716

when i finish everything i plan on making some large windows out of 6 mm Plexiglas in both doors and on the side..
anyone have experience with using that? i don't know how well it will stand up to the chips and coolant..

next is making doors and a slanting table under the mill.
