    Newbie learning Solidcam/Mach3

Hello all. I am new to solidcam/mach3.

I am trying some stuff (just practicing) on my Sherline 2010 CNC.

I have created a part in Solidworks/Solidcam and outputted the gcode. The origin for the part is in the center of the part/stock.

When I load the gcode into Mach3 the position mach3 starts at doesn't match what I have set as my origin. The first time i loaded the gcode it started properly and my stock was displayed in mach3 properly. After redoing my part/cam I cant make it appear that way anymore. The table doesn't match my stock. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

The 1st time you loaded the gcode, was it created on the Solidworks/Solidcam as well or sample gcode? I'm a newbie myself, I remember having the same issue 6 months ago when I just started, it was my post processor for Tormach. SolidcamX sort out my problem and purchase his post processesor for Tormach

    Hello there.

Yep I created the part in Solidworks/solidcam.

So when you load your gcode into mach3 is it supposed to go to the coordinates setup in the cam file ?

maybe I got that part wrong.

I am using Tormach post processor that came with solidworks but if its the post processor maybe I will buy it. Please let me know

    thanks!

do you have many positionn declared in coordsys manager?
first position is for G54 fixture, second position is for G55 and so on
if you make a gcode for second position (g55) you have to use the same fixture in mach3 (instead g54 which is default)

you can check the fixture by looking for G54 (G55) into your gcode and see for what fixture was created

    Hi.
I think that is a small chance this is the problem because the defualt is g54 at both.

yes, the default is G54 but only for the first position (in Solidcam)
the second position, if created (for the same part), will be G55 and the gcode will be generated according

Not accurate. You may define multiple positions for every ''home''.
