Fanuc Alarm 438 - Z AXIS : INV ABNORMAL CURRENT

    Hello all,

I have put a new motor on a Kasper (Rasoma) inverted lathe and it runs fine until I try high speeds (100% rapid) and I get a Fanuc Alarm 438. The screw seems fine and the ways look good. I did read the other thread - http://www.cnczone.com/forums/servo-...amplifier.html - and was going to try and "tune out" the motor temperature sensor. If that is it I can swap motors.

Does anyone know the parameter for this? I have another motor but wanted to troubleshoot it a bit first.

What control? I think you can jump out the thermal.

you didn't said why you decide to change the motor
first try to dismount the coupling between the motor and the axis and run the motor 100% and check if something happend.
if nothing happendt han you have a problem in the axis ballscrew or slideway
abnormal current allarm is generated by the driver and not by the motor
i had one month ago this with huge vibration of the motor when it stand still.
when i installed a new driver i had on drive the abnormal current
so i had to change the motor too for that to work
so better try a new motor .
