Hello All,
I'm new to this so this may be a simple problem.
Here's the setup. I'm running a K2CNC 3925HD machine with kmotion/kmotioncnc software. I'm currently using vcarve to draw designs.
From vcarve there are no obvious post processors to use. K2CNC doesn't seem to work. I found that EMC2 seems to work. I can draw basic shapes, mainly squares and circles with no problem. However, when it comes to more complex curves, the machine simply stops.
No error message, but based on the simplicity of the software, I don't know if I should expect one.
Here's what I have observed. In the kmotionCNC g viewer, the design (when simple) is mapped out in advance and the machine functions fine. However, when I create a design that has a somewhat unpredictable path, the g viewer will plot out the design up to the point that the machine will stop. Basically the g viewer seems to know in advance that it won't make it past a point.
I suspect there is a computational problem or some sort of limits that stop the program from computing any further. I have increased the look-ahead time and slowed the feed in the hopes that it's a computing to time available thing, but it seems as though the stoppage is not alleviated by extra time.
When things work:
straight lines that have fairly sharp angles
perfect circles
curved splines
When things don't work:
outlined type
ellipses
free form shapes
any help would be appreciated.
thanks
