3 axis mill equivalent to 2 axis dashed line?

In a 2d tool path, i extract and select my edges for the profile. However, in some cases I want to allow the cutter to exit through the contour. I can do this by making those edges dashed lines. Is there something equivalent to this in 3 axis milling? I have attached a picture of a curve surface I am simulating. The generated tool path leaves a lip as it doesn't seem to want to let the tool go far beyond the extent of the surface.

I built the toolpath by selecting the top surface of my part as the geometry. Any and all advice appreciated.

    Thanks much
    Brian

Extend your surfaces where you want to exit.Al touched on it today in one of his vids

Also if you can share the file, may be something else to do
2D I like for the extra control you get sometimes

I can't seem to replicate that functionality he shows. I am working with an imported iges file. I wonder if there is some issue there?
