    Cutting taper on TL-1

After going through the IPS and researching online I cannot find information on how to cut a taper on the TL-1. I may have to manufacture a taper pin for work in the next couple of days and would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction.

Program it like you would if it wasn't tapered then add an X end point on the same line as your Z end point.......

Thanks. Would this would be done in the IPS on O.D. turn tab or maybe OD Chamfer?

I forgot IPS generates OD and Face operations as canned cycles. My previous advice is invalid in that case. I don't use those canned cycles but I know the Haas manual explains them pretty well.

Thanks anyway Billetgrip. I cannot find anything in the manual in regards to cutting a taper other than chamfers. May have to give Haas a call.

Canned cycles are the same but you would use U instead of X (as x would be the start dim discribed on the previous line and would not affect the U dim) on a line by line case. If you want the whole part tapered use the tool offsets/taper page.

Thanks LeWhite. Hopefully I'll have time to get on the lathe this week. I didn't realize there is a tool offsets/taper page. I'm also not sure what you mean by using a U instead of X. What is the U dimension?

U is the incremental of X.

As you know different L/D will have different tapers as well as distance from chuck. To use tool taper page tapers the whole tools operation. Using U (delta X) just tapers that line.
