Need help with Z axis design

    Hello!

I have just bought a 300mm 1605 ballscrew with ends.

Could someone help me with a good Z axis design wich can be built with MDF?

    Best regards

    hello

long time ago I tried to play with MDF

I made a "sandwich design", see here:
CNC Hobby Mill - Z-axis - first run - YouTube

Unfortunately I had a HDD crash and I don't have the CAD files
The good news is the results which was better than expected
The sandwich design is really strong and will be a good start for a hobbist

The linear bushings was "burried" inside the MDF sandwich. Same for the ACME ballnut.
All MDF sheets are fixed and tighten together by the black screws. The nuts are also burried inside

But, as a personal opinion, don't go for a MDF machine is you want to keep it (and use it) for long time
A little bit better will be the plywood and even better look for aluminum design.

    Good luck,
    Seb

What do you want to cut and how aggressively?
I'm also confused why one would pair the least $ and least stiff material (MDF) with the most $ and most stiff drive option.
Also, in general, it's best to avoid buying any parts until the design is complete.
