If it is set in metric, and was good. That is fine.
To switch between inches and metric use G20 and G21
Don't be confused by how Mach3 is set up with metric/imperial.
Mach3 only...
It is all clearly written in the Mach3 manual. Of course, I am assuming you are using Mach3.
Mach3 is in steps per unit. It is easiest to set the units based on screw pitch. Metric or imperial, then the steps per unit are integers.
Then calibrate, and select metric or imperial in the config page, or have it set so it always remembers the settings (bottom right of config page)
It interprets metric or imperial depending on G21 or G20 setting.
Do the checks Andrew advises. It is all in the manual.
