    Importing Step files occasional problem.

    I hope someone can help.

Importing a step file into alphacam from solidworks. Its a curved panel with a rebate on both sides so we are using an under cut on bottom face. When this panel is straight its no problem but when its curved its turns the solid model into lines and puts a mesh all over it. When I delete the undercut its fine but I have no way to guide the tool.

    Hi ijk700

Do you actually mean mesh or do you mean surface?

Please send me the the curved version of the model and the flat version .... I'm sure I can give you an answer.

What version of Alphacam are you running?

Output as a SLDPRT or Parasolid or Iges and you might have more luck.

    Thanks for the reply

Its essentially a rectangular wall with a curved shape on the top. I suppose it looks like an caravan side but with rebates on both sides. Ive deleted the rebate on the underside and it cures the problem but then I have no way to have a toolpath. Ill try and get the files off my computer in the morning.

version 2014 alphacam. The 3d part is covered in a mesh like a surface with no solid model.
