Question Haas HS1 RS232 in/out board only sends out

We have a mid 90's HS1 Haas mill & the send/receive board is obviously bad. We can send programs to computer but we can't receive them. Is there any way we can replace this board with a USB port or floppy? Haas quoted us $3k for the board & I'm thinking we can replace it with USB but I figured I'd ask to see if anyone else has done this? Thanks

Are you talking about the little RS232 board that has the D-sub connector on it? If so, that shouldn't be $3000. The hardware that affects the RS232 send/receive function are the RS232 card, Processor PCB and the Video PCB. It sounds like they quoted you up on a processor. If that is the case, let the HFO replace the processor. I want to say the video board is around $400 after the core exchange, maybe try replacing this first. As for an upgrade, your guess is as good as mine.

    Good luck
