Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.

    Hello everyone at cnc-zones,

I am Hanno from Hamburg, Germany and I'm dreaming of cnc since the last 25 years. Now I am in the situation that I can realise my dream, I'm working at a small cross-table with a stepper and I want to build a kind of 6040 cnc.
Here are lots of discussions about it and I'm sure I find something interesting to show and share with you.

    Greets, Hanno

Glad to have found this forum! I am currently researching and preparing to build a CNC router to learn more about CNC control and ultimately swap out the router for a plasma cutter once I get it up and running. I also would like to convert my mini lathe to CNC and from there who knows. I have a feeling that if and when I learn the ins and outs of CNC I'll be converting everything! Lol

Hello, complete newbie to anything CNC. I build one off vintage motorcycle parts for a living and just acquired a Supermax YCM40 3 axis mill with an Allen Bradley 8400MP controller and need some help. I have lurked here before and saw good answers to peoples questions. So here I am.

Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.

    I have 60 W, 400x600 mm G-Weike laser engraver.
Great engraver, but not so good cutting 1/8 acrylic, or thick leather.
Question: can I replace the 60 W tube with 100-120 W laser tube and what else is necessary ...?

Hi, it's good to be here. I'm a software developer and totally new to CNC. I'm trying to design a simple mechanical device and now wish I had a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Anyway, I'm trying to draft my design using TurboCAD 18 Pro Platinum, (I'm still learning how to use the CAD software) an hope to eventually develop something I can take to a local machine shop to fabricate into a working prototype. The further I get into the design, the more questions pop up. I came across this site while researching tolerances. I already found some helpful info here and decided to join. Without access to sites like this, and the help of knowledgeable people on these sites, I wouldn't be as far along on my design as I am. Thank you, Travis

    Hello all,
I'm Charley in Front Range of Colorado, USA. I'm an IR laser R&D guy for many years, and also a fairly involved home manual machinist (fine old Hardinge toolroom lathe, J-head B'port, B&S surface grinder, etc.). Fleeting interest in CNC that I oughta get more serious about one of these days. Currently thinking about single-point diamond turning a little, like as in potentially ginning up a home-built capability--! It's a thought anyhow (I do at least have many yrs of precision optomechanics design background, so maybe not <entirely> crazy...). Looking forward to poking around here a little, thanks.
