Am i the only one who sees 5 Fat Bearded Ladies in that last one.
Hey John, have you done your Frankie yet? If so, please post a pic. Do you want to carve bas relief or just a plate cut?
Hi John, Have you tried photo carve from Vectric for reliefs? Saw some awesome work in their galleries.
p.s My name is Kevin, by the way!
Hi Kevin, I played with vectric's photo vcarve trial edition, but didnt think the results justified the price. So instead I use the free program, BMP Bender found on this forum to create stl files from photos for carving when the results justify it, not all images will convert well.
John
I always buy a little more machine than I need because it never fails that I will need it. LOL!
Attachment 195090Thanks John. You're quite right there re pricing! However their trial edition sucks as it is very limiting and the photo v-carve takes a lot of tuition to really fine tune. I will have a look at the BMP Bender. Thanks for the heads up! Pic is of my new little honey just arrived:cheers:
Yep, bought a little more machine................!
I'm quite impressed, and not a little jealous, I'm still working with my home-built, half built machine.
John
Hi John / other forum members! Do any of you have CAM software files for 3D and bas relief carving, that you are willing to share? I would like to do a few test runs to learn about my new cnc router. It is a 4 axis unit, with the 4th being the rotary (lathe ) axis.
Any input will be greatly appreciated. The pic is the sort of thing I want to be able to do, as well as v-carve lettering.
Greetings and salutations from the East Coast, Durban, South Africa
I'm assuming your meaning just the 3D files themselves? Not the gcode?
If so, this bloke has some fantastic models for free on his site that would be great to try out:
Ingyenes Reliefek, Free relief <!--if()-->- <!--endif--> - Fájlkatalógus - Hobby , 3D, Relief, CNC, fafaragás
Or for v-carving there's a lot of great dxf's a little earlier in this thread.
Although for a new machine it's kind of traditional to do a Mayan calendar (www.vectric.com/forum/download/file.php?id=884), on your machine you do a real big one!
cheers, Ian
It's rumoured that everytime someone buys a TB6560 based board, an engineer cries!
Here's a site with some 3D files you can get for free. I've cut several of them and there great! http://cnc3dart.narod.ru/free.html
Hope you can use one or two of them to get you started.
Larry
