    Anyone created a 100w 808nm diode laser

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone has created a 100W 808nm laser for cutting?

100W 808nm QCW High Power Laser Diode Bar Array DPSS Brand New | eBay

You can get a 808nm laser diode for ~$100, so it seems like it would be a good deal, and would last a long time vs a CO2 or other gas lasers. You could mount it directly on the Z axis, and would just need to focus the laser. Could be stackable as well.

Any thoughts? Has anyone done this yet?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Not sure what 808nm will couple with, or cut, but I'm sure with a focusing lens it could be fun to play with. I'm sure you would need to figure out how to liquid cool it. Does he have drivers for it? It would be nice to pulse it if possible.

I figured that I could get one of these diodes. Cooling it is very simple. I figured probably what needs to be done is get a big power supply and then come up with some controller to pulse it very quickly. If you stack several of them up you could join the beams and create a DIY diode metal cutting laser. I'm just curious to see if anyone has done it yet and what was their experience.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I think the mirrors to line them all up to 1 beam, then the collimating lens would cost more than the lasers, but doable for sure. 100 true watts would cut thin metal with a good air assist nozzle. we do it on our machines all the time. .01 stainless should be no problem.

Beam combining and phase stacking are two totally different things.

You have no idea what rubbish you talk.
You know perfectly nothing about laser diodes.

    Hi speedydumpste,

I am interested in the same thing you were. Did you ever purchase the 100 watt diode laser? If so, what was your experience?

    Thanks,
    Mike
