Hey Mark, I'm here to help.
Hey Mark, I'm here to help.
You can buy GOOD PARTS or you can buy CHEAP PARTS, but you can't buy GOOD CHEAP PARTS.
Hey Mark,
Any chance you saved the pallets your Tormach came on?
I just got off the phone with a gentleman from Washington State that is mailing a cashiers check tomorrow for my Tormach. He isn't in a hurry since he can't use it in the next few weeks, but offered to pay me to break it down and pallet it for shipping. He will likely be joining CNCZone soon and definitely has some cool plans for the 1100 including making parts for Tether Cars... yeah... had to look that up. Pretty cool stuff.
Anyways, wondering if you still have your pallets and if you wanted to part with them or not. Building my own wont be too hard, but I would have to google up some pictures to try and remember how they secured everything safely for freight shipping.
I just took all that crap to the dump Saturday...sorry about that, would have gladly gave them away. I really don't believe you could buy wood locally (if they call it that) of such poor quality, but it was good enough to get the mill to me without damage.
I looked up the Tether cars, kinda cool!
Kind of figured I could do better, but figured it was worth asking.
Pretty sure there are enough "unboxing" videos online I can remember how they mounted to the pallet.
The only thing I'm really going to miss is the spindle speeder but I found some BIG CAT40 speeders that perform even better since they are ATC compatible

In my case it was a big pallet on the bottom, a layer of ply on top. The mill bolted through in four places. Big foam chunk under the spindle and resting on the bed. The Y/Z oriented to balance the weight. The outside box was kind of a two ply toilet paper wood thing stapled together (a single $6 1/2" ply would be better)
Are you boxing up the stand too, that was a bit more complicated? I could scan the install manuals if that helps, but they may be online for clues.
I think I still have the manual saved on my pc and in paper, but thank you!
The stand will suck a little, but all the other stuff like enclosure, lights, plumbing, wiring, electronics all run between multiple parts that need to come apart.
He said he doesn't need it any time soon so which is good because my employee is on the road doing East coast shows for most of the next 2 months.
Figure I'll work on it a little each day and take a lot of pictures for him
