The best tool for the job is the one you like the best. Many people use multiple packages, as some do certain things better than others.
Sorry, not familiar with any open source CAM programs. There are some free ones, though, like FreeMill and G-Simple.

Try CAMBAM. Not open source, but well worth the cost.

CamBam CNC Software - Page Error!

To learn how to use it with 3D, suggest you start with 2D first.

Though the user interface is complex, the almost infinite control over the generation of g-code the control panel allows is what gives CAMBAM more versatility.

The user forum is very good, and almost any problem has a solution there. If not many will analyze your problem and help you with a viable solution.

As Gerry indicated, any Vectric product will allow you to be very productive as projects started and finished within a compete integrated approach to generation of g-code..design, toolpaths, g-code, testing, then to production. Working on a project within one software package is very time-efficient and allows rapid pay-back for the cost of the software. Plus minimized frustration!

    em.rexhepi,
If you want to download Makercam , Go to search and type in "PartKAM-free crossplatform 2.2d CAM"
or the name WillAdams and on page 12 you find a link on how to download Makercam.
