    Lathe set-up reduction

    Good Morning,
I am looking for a bullet point list of the best suggestion for reducing lathe set-up times. I have been programming and setting up lathes for many years and am now in a position that I need to help some other employees come up to speed and improve the overall training in the shop I am working in.(three months now) I just bought Mike Lynch's book on reducing set-up times on turning centers but have a meeting in the morning and wont be able to utilize it right away. Just bullet points are what I need unless you want to help out more extensively,
    such as.
Tooling needed at each machine. (we have 8 lathes ranging from 19th century technology to a couple of years old)
Suggestions of what can be done offline before tearing down the old set-up to be ready.
Installed program for boring jaws if necessary for the next part. (parametric program that is customizable).

    All suggestions are appreciated.
    thanks
    tony

I always used to tell people, the quick change was just a bonus on those chucks. Jaws repeat awesome during changes, and, those things do not loose clamping force at rpm. great chucks for thin wall tubing since they require a lot less clamping pressures.
