    Ramping End Mill using BobCad

This seems simple but I'm having a hard time making BobCad do this. I want to cut a 14 degree angle in the Z direction using the back of a 3/4" cutter to generate and angle on a .065" wide straight line surface. I realize that the top of the .065" wide surface will have a conical shape but it doesn't matter. I save an operation by doing this. I've calculated all of the geometry for these cuts in AutoCAD and can do it manually but I should be able to use BobCad to generate the program. Any help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Use a 3D line to represent the toolpath, then use the 3D engrave function.

If you have done all of your own calculations, set the depth to 0 (Zero)

If I misunderstood what you are doing, apologies, but I think this will do what you want.

I have performed a similar operation by using the "3D ENGRAVE" toolpath.

I created line geometry that started off the part, followed the ramped surface, continued off the part.

Then used the CONTOUR tool to be able to control direction of cut.

Then used the contour as the path for the 3D ENGRAVE.

It took a little playing with the "Z" depth to get the exact size part I wanted but it did work.

Excellent suggestion on the Contour. Sometimes it's the only way to get the cut direction you want.
