2 problems: First of all, I have air constantly leaking out of the top plate. Any ideas how to stop it? I have the air pressure at the correct setting as per the manual.

Second: I am getting a 185 alarm "A Cable Fault". All the cables are plugged into the right sockets. I have A-axis enabled, in parameter 30 I set the correct rotary table, I turned on the air brake. Any ideas how to fix this?

I reset the machine and the 185 alarm went away. I'm now getting a 168 alarm that I wasn't getting before, "A-Axis Zero Return Margin is Too Small". When I go to zero the axes, the machine moves the X Y and Z in increments before stopping and giving me that alarm.

First, what is the top plate?

Have you used this set-up before? If not, maybe someone changed the actual parameters for the unit in the actual Parameters. (what you called a parameter is a setting graphics setting #30.

Be sure you give us the year of your machine etc.

The top plate is the plate that sits on top of the unit with a large through hole in the center.

It's a brand new 2012 Haas VF-2., all the settings are correct, confirmed by Haas.

If it's new, call Haas's rotary department and have them run you through fixing it.
