First "real parts" made on the Torus Pro

I got my first opportunity to make a quick turn proto. on the Torus Pro.

I designed an enclosure to house some electronics and a "boot" to cover the user access opening in the box. I made the box from HDPE. The box is roughly 3"x 2"x 1" with .050" thick walls. There is a groove on the face of the box made with a key way cutter to mate with the rubber boot. The assembly is held together with 2-56 Heli-coiled holes/screws. The box came out great, but then again, plastic is easy to cut. So the next step was to machine a core/cavity liquid silicone injection mold from aluminum to make the boot. The first attempt came out fantastic. The mold mating surfaces were faced with a .5 " end mill, and the contours were cut with both .25" and .125" ball mill. The surface finish came out ultra smooth. I used the mold straight off the machine to produce the rubber boots. No post processing required  Very happy with the Torus so far .

    Looks nice!

It's a great machine, isn't it? I could not be more happy with mine, and I've used it almost every day for the last 6 weeks, so I've got a lot of miles on it already.

    Regards,
    Ray L.
