    Help Hypertherm 1650 slag

Using a CNC profiling machine Powermax 1650
    Hypertherm PHC Height controller
I am getting a lot of slag inside of the retaining cap of my Duramax torch.

    Getting error code 02

    Using 105 amp tip.
    Cutting 12mm plate.
    getting good cuts.
but getting about 15 pierces, some times 4 pierces then have to replace the cap.

Have tried adjusting the voltage from 145 to 156
    Any one have any suggestions.

    Staring to become costly
    Regards,

If you can provide me some better details I'll be happy to help.

    - You say a 105 amp tip....do you mean nozzle? (some call the nozzle a tip, some call the shield a tip, some call the electode a tip)
    - Are you using the mechanized shield?
    - What part are you referring to when you say you have to replace the cap? Why are you replacing it?
    - What are your cutting specs on 1/2" steel: physical pierce height, physical cut height, actual cut height (did you measure it), inlet air pressure, secondary air setting (are you setting the secondary air with the torch air flowing?) , Amperage, etc.
-Are you using the manual that came with the Duramax torch for these specs (the manual is on a CD and can be downloaded as a .pdf.)?
-Any pictures of the parts after the 15 pierces...specifically the nozzle, the shield and the electrode?
