Recently purchased one of these and I have a couple of questions. The Bridgeport manual is not very clear. How do I position the start point on the job manually? I have tried entering the co-ordinates into the x,y,z on the display but cannot get the table to go to that position. What am I doing wrong? Any help greatly appreciated.

Use the handwheel [little wheel symbol on keyboard plus press the axis key for the desired axis] or use joysticks[this machine still has joysticks right?]

Thanks for the answer, yes it does have joysticks. I have now positioned the workpiece, so now I assume I zero the x & y axis on the display by pressing enter to make this the start position. I already have the machining program written, do I then call up the program and press start? I intend trying it on a piece of wood first to make sure there are no mishaps.

IMO you need to read some manuals first.

So I bought this car thing and I know the big roundy thing makes it turn but what do those pedals do? Guess I will just turn the key and figure it out as I go along..........
